The Falmouth BID Working Group for Events and Festivals, led by board director Sam Groom, has planned a programme of activity to complement shoreside events organised by the Henri-Lloyd Falmouth Week committee.
“In March, 400 plus local businesses voted yes to the BID scheme that promised improvements to the events and festivals that form a very important part of Falmouth life along with a host of other projects designed to increase footfall into the town,” said Miss Groom.
“Our enthusiastic and experienced volunteers decided to focus on sponsoring activities for children and a music stage on the Moor, as a means of attracting even more people to Henri-Lloyd Falmouth Week, and to spread festival atmosphere across the whole town.”
Fun activities and workshops for children and parents, under the banner of It’s OK to Play, and led by Falmouth and Penryn Children’s Centres in collaboration with Event Cornwall, will take place on the Moor from 10am to noon and from 1pm to 4pm on Saturday, August 8, as well as throughout Henri-Lloyd Falmouth Week from Monday August 10 to 15.
Music on the Moor with Pubs United Falmouth will offer local bands, local ale and good company with young Helston community bands performing on Wednesday, August 12, Graham Hart followed by The Toilet Monsters on Thursday, August 13, Forgotten Heroes on Friday, August 14, and The Shirts’ Beach Party on Saturday, August 15. Admission is free but donations are encouraged in aid of Help for Heroes, a charity that provides support to those wounded in conflict.
