THE Princess Pavilion is gearing up ready to host this years Falmouth Week entertainment schedule which includes several international acts including Sophie Ellis-Bextor.
In previous years the entertainment for Falmouth Week has been held on Discovery Quay and before that on The Moor, but this year a packed schedule of live acts will be performing at Falmouth's well known venue.
Organisers of Falmouth Week approached the Princess Pavilion to see if they would host the event when they realised that they could not hold it in the usual place because of how the even had grown over the years.
Marc Laundon, marketing manager for Carrick Leisure, said that everyone was very excited about the event and the acts that would be performing during the week.
He said: "Falmouth Week is a very important event for the town and the entertainment which runs alongside the sailing events has grown substantially over the years. We are proud to host the entertainment and see this as a great chance for people in Falmouth to get together and enjoy some first class acts."
Live bands will play each night of the week at the 600 standing capacity venue, including Sophie Ellis-Bextor, T. Rextasy, The Blockheads, Soul Survivors, Lovetrain, Seth Lakeman and The Damned.
Mr Laundon was also keen to point out that the Princess Pavilion had not actively sort out to host the events but that they were happy to do it for the town.
He said: "We have a purpose built hall for these kind of concerts. We can take 600 people standing and we are licnsend to have 2,000 people on the premises. We have also tried to make the shows all ages so that they can be enjoyed by the whole family."
Mr Laundon added that he did not know what would happen with future events but that the Pavilion would be happy to host it again.
He said: "We are doing this to support Falmouth and now we hope that Falmouth will support us."
As well as a musical events there will also be a Caribbean Beach Party Night and Friends of Princess Pavilion garden party and staff will also be opening the gardens to visitors who may not want to attend the concerts but want to drink in the atmosphere of the night.
