4:26pm Friday 4th December 2009

Fresh from the stable of German super-yacht builder Lurssen, at Bremer-Vegesack, the 75-metre long expeditionary yacht Northern Star is anchored in Carrick Roads for bunkers. The luxurious vessel is the property of the man who owns North America’s largest fishing fleet. To charter this yacht for one week would cost you a staggering £452,000.

Powered by twin Caterpillar engines she can achieve a top speed of 17 knots. The vessel is ice strengthened to allow her to venture into polar regions.
