Tall Ships traffic arrangements in Falmouth

The traffic arrangements for the Funchal 500 Tall Ships Festival have been announced. They, along with other details and a map of the town will be available in leaflet form from this week.

Falmouth town centre will be pedestrianised during the event.

Road closures will be in place from 11am - 11pm on Wednesday September 10 to Saturday, September 13 inclusive .

advertisement The following roads cannot be entered by car or commercial vehicles after 11am or exited before 11pm (except emergency and health care vehicles): the moor (north east of the roundabout,including Webber Street), Market Street, Church Street, Arwenack Street (up to Swanpool Street), Quay Hill, Quay Street and Custom House Quay.

Parking: Church Street Car Park and Custom house Quay Car Park will be closed from 6pm Tuesday September 9 to noon Sunday September 14. Church Street Car Park will become the Regatta Shopping Village with an entertainment area and Skinner 's beer tent.

There will also be a bar and entertainment on Custom House Quay.

The car park at the junction of Tinners Walk and Bar Road will be used for disabled parking only.

On race day, the lower car park at Pendennis Point will be closed. The upper car park will be used for disabled parking only.

Other car parks are open as usual. There is no return within three hours to short stay car parks.There are temporary car parks at Ships & Castles / Hornworks. Tickets are available in advance on 01326 212129. Parking is also available on the Rugby Field and in Gyllyngvase Coach Park. Tickets on the day.

Car parking spaces in Falmouth are expected to fill up quickly and parking legislation will be enforced. People are urged to use other means of transport or car share and encourage employees to do the same.

Late night shopping retailers are encouraged to stay open late and make the most of the event. Carrick council has arranged for additional toilets at the event sites. Additional street and toilet cleaning has also been arranged.
