Flushing Regatta Week is being held later this month and will as usual be an action fun packed week for everyone with events being held at places throughout the village.

Starting on Saturday July 19 with Gig Racing off Kiln Quay, supplied by Flushing and Mylor Pilot Gig Club, events continue into the evening with live music by Tom Dale and a Hog Roast at the Royal Standard in the village.

Sunday sees the now famous Flushing Snail Race, in its 5th year, officially being started by Jamie smith of West Briton fame - everyone is welcome to join in, but you must bring your own snail! This is followed by the small pet show and dog show. Sunday evening is rounded off with a boat trip with Enterprise Boats with Peter Gilson onboard to tell all.

The rest of the week includes fun events such as Bath Tub Racing, a French Themed Street Market, Nankersey Choir Concert, a pub quiz at the Seven Stars, a family sports day, Crab Catching and a Barn Dance with The Other Band.

On the final Saturday, Flushing are trying to go Car Free for the day. A car park is being provided by Tregew Farm at the top of the village and a Free mini bus shuttle service will be running from 12.30pm till 10pm.

Saturday is a water based day and starts with the now famous Trawler Race with boats decked out in bunting and flags. This year sees the return of Water Polo - we are looking for a shield last seen in the 1950's for the water polo competition of yesteryear named Rosilian or Rosillian Shield - does anyone have any idea who won it last and where it is?? Any information would be gratefully received by the Regatta Committee.

Saturday continues with Sail Racing organised by Flushing Sailing Club, with the finish line in Flushing, so come and watch the spectacular racing taking place from 1pm and enjoy the Flushing Ladies Teas Throughout the afternoon is the turn of the swimmers and pram racing and in the evening we invite anyone to join in with the Grand Carnival (walking only). If you have an idea, costume or group who wish to take part, please join us in Tregew Farm for a 6pm assembly and then join the revelers down into Flushing. With Penzamba Band and a traffic free Flushing, it should be a great evening. To end it all, fireworks on the Quay provided by Sticky Prawn and Seven Stars.

Sunday July 27 is our final day with an Open Air Service on Flushing Sailing Club Quay at 6pm, which is to be conducted by the Reverend Arthur Cowburn. What a wonderful way to finish off this fantastic village affair.

Programmes with full details of day to day events are available from flushing Post Office, The Village Shop, Royal Standard, Seven Stars, Tregew Farm Shop and Mylor Stores.
