All hands on deck for regatta
It's all hands on deck once again on May 19 at the second annual Savills Regatta in Falmouth. Hosted by the historic Royal Cornwall Yacht Club in Falmouth harbour, a fleet of yachts ranging in size between 20 and 50ft are expected to compete including teams of clients, guests and Savills staff.
With the inaugural regatta last year such a resounding success 2008 looks to be even bigger. Last year more than 20 yachts took part in the day from a variety of classes, including IRC yachts, PY Cruisers and even two Falmouth Working Boats. This year it is hoped a fleet of elegant Falmouth Sunbeams will attend and even more teams are expected to participate in this friendly and fun competition.
Experienced racing sailor Jonathan Cunliffe, head of Savills Truro, who will skipper the Savills Cornwall entry said: "After such a fantastic day last year, it was always our plan to make this an annual event. In recent months we have often been asked when the next Savills Regatta is, so I only hope the weather will be half as good as last year."
Firms including Foot Anstey Hancock Caffin and St.Austell Brewery will be returning to defend their trophies from 2007.
A prize giving and reception will follow the racing at the Royal Cornwall Yacht Club overlooking the finish line.
