Cornwall Marine Network’s 2010 Directory has been published this week and 10,000 copies will be given away.
The guide is packed with information on tide times, training opportunities within the marine sector and on all the benefits of becoming a CMN member.
Along with useful facts and websites, the guide lists details on more than 300 Cornish maritime businesses that make up the Network.
From chandlers to boat builders and surf schools to chartered yacht sailing, the comprehensive guide is for anyone interested in Cornwall’s maritime industry.
The booklets are available free from tourist information centres, local marine outlets and harbour master offices or from CMN’s offices at Falmouth Business Park, Bickland Water Road.
Blob: A flyer for young people looking to boost their prospects and qualifications through a pioneering watersports training scheme has been produced by Cornwall Marine Network’s Marine Academy.
Aimed at 16 to 18-year-olds, it offers a taste of the marine industry while getting out on the water either surfing, coasteering, kayaking or powerboating.
For those who do not wish to get wet, there are boat builder, shipwright or watersports instructor courses - even plumbing, electrical and retail training - all relating to the maritime industry.
Training centres are across Cornwall and students can join at anytime and tailor the content and length to suit them. The initiative helps create a path that could lead to a career in the marine sector. It is funded through Cornwall Council’s European Social Funded Freestyle Project.
