Falmouth Marine School students gave the college its very own vegetables stall when they sold fresh produce to fellow students and staff.
Students on the National Open College Network were selling the vegetables, which had been picked at the Duchy College Rosewarne campus the same day, as part of the enterprise unit of their course.
They ordered the vegetable and sold them by the kilo, having based their prices on research they did at Asda.
The stall was set up with a variety of seasonable vegetables on sale including onions, carrots, leeks, three types of cabbage, swede, cauliflower and potatoes. The students took it in turns to serve customers, weighting the vegetables and taking money.
During their lunch hour, other students and staff flocked to grab some of the produce with red cabbage selling out in ten minutes and leeks, carrots and potatoes the other popular items.
One of the students, Mathew Shipley, said: “It’s been really good fun. We’ve sold quite a lot and it’s been good selling things and using the scales to weigh everything.”
