The Mediterranean-based Herreshoff schooner Mariette has arrived at Pendennis Shipyard for her scheduled pre-summer refit.
As part of the work, she will be given an engineering overhaul and a full refit of her generator space, including the replacement of her generators.
Her job list also includes underwater hull fairing and the addition of new folding propellers in order to increase her efficiency and through the water performance – just in time to compete against other classic sailing yachts in the Pendennis Cup.
Mariette is the first international competitor in this year’s regatta to enter British waters and with an overall length of 42.05m she is one of the largest competitors taking part in the fleet.
This year, the Pendennis Cup will run between August 9 and 14 and will see five days of racing off the Cornish coast.
Mariette will be sailing with other large classics in the Westward Cup in Cowes with a feeder race leading the fleet to Falmouth ahead of the start of the cup.
