Nankersey Rowing Club interrupted their winter training on Saturday to present a cheque to ShelterBox for £150.

The money was collected from the monthly quiz evening held by the Rowing Club held monthly at the Royal Standard, Flushing and topped up at Flushing Village Stores by customers.

The club is sending six teams to the World Pilot gig Championships in Isles of Scilly in May and crews are busy training both on land and at sea.

Club Rowing Captain, John Ball said: “We have many new rowers this season and many nationalities, today saw Germany, Brazil, Finland and England in the boat, with our Irish contingent on holiday.”

The club is gradually growing and with its acceptance into the Cornish Pilot Gig Association. They are looking to purchase a second gig. Grant funding has been applied for and shares in the new boat are being sold.
