Falmouth Marine School tutor rewarded

A senior tutor at Falmouth Marine School has been commended for her consistently positive impact on the lives of learners and colleagues by receiving the highly coveted Lifetime Achievement Award at a Cornwall College awards ceremony.

Tricia Noble was nominated for the Lifetime Achievement Award for her encouragement, support and positive attitude in helping students complete and achieve their goals throughout her long career at Falmouth. In her citation, guests were told that "her enthusiasm, energy and zest for life are both boundless and infectious".

Tim Fitter, Marine Science student and next year's Students' Union chairperson at Falmouth, said: "Tricia is seen by students as a fixer of problems, she is always the first port of call if students have any issues either in or out of college life. Her door is always open and her attitude constantly positive."

The glitzy awards ceremony, which took place at the Atlantic Hotel in Newquay, saw a total of 13 awards being presented for those in teaching, business support and leadership roles, including a Life Achievement award. Winners received an engraved crystal star trophy and certificate. Runners-up were presented with commemorative pens.

The awards were presented by Steve Burgess, Cornwall College Human Resources Director, and Sally Butler, Head of Marketing.

Dave Linnell OBE, Principal of Cornwall College, said: "Our staff fully deserve to be recognised for the incredible work they do for students and colleagues every single day. The Star Awards are a way of highlighting the hard work and dedication of those who go above and beyond their duties to make Cornwall College a great place to study and work. This is our way of saying thank you."
