Classic boats head for Plymouth this weekend

The line up of classic boats that will be on display in Sutton Harbour, Plymouth this weekend is looking exciting: 'Our Daddy' - a lugger built in Looe. Built in 1921 and can still be seen in Looe. Spent most of her working life fishing for pilchards and long lining in the English Channel before shark fishing and retirement in the mid 1980's. 75' long.

'Josefine' 1931 Danish gaff cutter fished for 40 years in the Baltic and North Sea. Length 66' 'Pinco' - a new entry from Brittany - home port St Brieuc/Plerin. Built of traditional construction from oak and mahogany. Photo attached photo. Length 36' 'Mascotte' - Built 1904 for the pilot Tom Cox in Newport, Mon. Sold out of pilotage in 1915 to become a yacht and houseboat. Rebuilt in 1980 and 1994/5. Often used for film/TV work. One of the best examples of an original Bristol Pilot Cutter - length 60' 'The Becky-Ann' - Ex-naval cutter built in Plymouth in 1944. Has seen action in WWII and tendered a Plymouth based battleship during WWII. Length 24' On Saturday the 2nd August there will be a great line up of performers producing live music at the festival: 12 noon - 12.45pm: Guy Harris Excellent flamenco and classical guitarist 1pm-2 pm: Big Beat Junk Band Infectious percussive junk band 2.15 pm-2.45pm: Guy Harris Excellent flamenco and classical guitarist 3pm-3.45pm: Paul Harris Trio Swingin' jazz-piano outfit does set of Lennon & McCartney tunes.

4pm-4.45pm: Benny Guitar Carr Semi-acoustic set from young rock'n'roll slide bluesman 5.00pm -5.45pm: Kat Marsh Plymouth singer-songwriter and loop-specialist Kat Marsh takes to the stage, famed for her fantastic voice, her country-blues influences and the way she can loop her guitar to make an electronica backdrop to her performance.

6pm-6.45pm: Benny Guitar Carr (tbc) Semi-acoustic set from young rock'n'roll slide bluesman 7pm-8pm: Massive Organ Band Hammond-organ fuelled funk-outfit, set to finish off the day in a groovy style
